Are you an experienced agent looking to upgrade your licence or bring your qualifications up to date?

It does not matter how you achieved your current level of knowledge and competence (e.g., formal training, on-the-job training, work experience). What does matter, is that you are able to provide evidence that your knowledge and competence meet the current requirements of a particular unit of competency.

  • RPL is recommended for individuals with at least two years' worth of recent experience in the property services industry. It is ideal for those wanting to upgrade from being a registration holder to a licensee. Individuals with a desire to re-enter the property industry whose previous training is no longer current may also be eligible for RPL.

  • When selecting units you wish to receive RPL for, it is important to select units you are able to provide evidence of your current skill and knowledge in. Please do not select units in your application that you do not have any experience in. (For example do not select a business broking unit if you have no experience in selling businesses).

    To assist, we provide an outline of the criteria that need to be met in order to be assessed as competent in any given unit. Applicants should refer to our unit competency criteria guide when selecting units as part of the RPL application process.

  • In addition to completing this form, you will also need to gather and submit supporting evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and experience in the units you would like exemption from.

    Examples of supporting evidence include the following, but you can submit any documentation you believe is relevant to your application.

    • Current registration or licence

    • Letter of employment from your current employer (or appropriate references)

    • Any relevant academic transcripts you may have

    • Copies of the following documents:

      • Appraisal report - this can be a letter advising a vendor of your appraisal results

      • Listing report - this can be listing documentation completed by you

      • Selling report - this can be letters of offers made, letters advising of exchange and completion to settlement

      • Marketing examples - this can be copies of online, print, or letterbox drop marketing.

    Once you have provided evidence of your experience and it has been accepted as proving your knowledge and skill in a particular area, you will be given credit for a specific competency without having to engage in further study.

  • We have a one-off charge of $155 to assess an RPL application.

  • Mututal recognition

    If you hold a current property licence or registration in a particular state/territory and wish to work in another jurisdiction, we recommend contacting the regulatory body of the state/territory you wish to work in. A process of mutual recognition is often available and may exclude you from completing additional studies.

    It is important to note that due to the varying eligibility requirements for property licensing/registration across each state/territory, a licence or registration granted by mutual recognition may be subject to certain conditions/restrictions. In this case, we can assist you in meeting any training needs to gain an unrestricted licence/registration.
